" Cyber economics is the economy that relies on information technologies with an objective of efficient management of information so that knowledge-based industries are the core of the economy sector.
Jordan, to prepare for entering the twenty-first century, has established the National Information Centre to manage its information infrastructure.
The National Information System, is established in coordination with the public and private sectors.
Challenges are great especially in globalization which caters for narrowing the gap in the use of basic technologies that are related to information technology.
This convergence of technologies has a big effect on our daily life and our working style.
There is an accelerating use and development in electronic commerce .
We now speak of digital currency, multimedia email that is competing with regular mail, faxes, and telephone calls in commercial business .
Web pages on the Internet has become a more effective means for marketing.
It supersedes marketing flyers and commercial advertisements.
Electronic conferencing and electronic document exchange has helped people to work from home and this in turn has reduced the cost of participation in national activities.
We have started to use concepts like virtual reality, virtual cities, virtual roads ,virtual trips and virtual classroom.
All these concepts denote realities that will distinguish the next century.
Challenges are big and there is a need to formulate strategies and plans to absorb the economic and social that ensued from the information revolution to share the burden in the information society.
One of the aims of the conference is to understand the realities of the Jordanian cyber economy and look into the requirements of the information age of the next century.
